Compound Editorial provides storytelling and support to busy content teams.
Hi! I’m Sandra Barry, and I can help you tell your story. Here’s mine:
After a decade in journalism and a stint at a startup, I founded Compound Editorial in 2015. I worked with public media here in Colorado, higher education institutions around the world, and a few of my favorite small businesses, then found a niche in employer branding. I still enjoy writing for candidate audiences today, but have been fortunate enough to expand my relationships with talent teams into content, marketing, and communications, as well.
I partner primarily with investment firms and tech companies, with a focus on ghostwriting, Q&A, and learning content projects.
I’m based in Denver, where I spend most of my off hours keeping up a 40-year-old sailboat, a 90-year-old house, and two 14-year-old dogs.
I’ve helped tell stories for 70+ clients and end clients, including:

Conversations are at the heart of my work; getting to know you, your voice, and your ideas helps me build a connection between you and your audience. In a short call, we’ll surface the stories and details we need, and we’ll align on narrative structure. Then I’ll write up a draft for you to review.

When clients ask if I prefer to write or edit, I tell them: “That depends on you.” I’m always happy to take the first pen — but if you’d rather do so yourself, then I firmly believe you should. When your draft is ready, I can stand in for your readers, make suggestions, and ensure the published piece reflects the best version of you. Certifications: UCSD, ACES

It’s death by a thousand emails: From strategy and scheduling to approvals and publication, the roadblocks to great writing are often everywhere but the page. If you need ongoing content support, I can embed with your team and take projects off your plate from start to finish (or anywhere in between).
